Day 1717, Raxruha – Sayaxche: River Boats

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jul - 03 - 2015

Distance: 96.3 km
Ride time: 4:57:33
Average: 19.4 km/h
Max speed: 53.3 km/h
Total: 36976 km

After breakfast in the very local village of Raxruha I was heading towards… another very local village. I feel like I’m far away from the big city life out here.

In the beginning of the day I was still going up and down small hills, but soon I was on flat grounds again. I think this will end my time in the mountains for quite a while. In fact I’m not even sure I will make it to 1500 m of altitude again before reaching Canada. The rest of Guatemala, Belize and Mexico is flat, but perhaps somewhere in the States.

For now I was enjoying some easy cruising that certainly hasn’t characterized the last weeks. On the other hand I’m sure that I will soon miss the mountains.

Sayaxche is located right at the Rio de la Pasion. There is no bridges here, so I will need to take the small ferry across tomorrow morning.

One Response so far.

  1. I love a ferry crossing! If I had the choice to cross a bridge, or take a vehicular ferry, I’d take the ferry. We still have a few of them in Sydney – one only five minutes away!
