Cycling on Sundays in Africa is interesting – while passing the small villages there is always plenty of religious activities taking place in the streets. No boring speaches around here…

Otherwise I’m very much enjoying my time in Kenya. So far the people have been super friendly and the road smooth. I’m only planning to cycle the western part of the country, and I have already made a left turn towards the border of Ethiopia. The problem is that I don’t yet have a visa for Ethiopia, and they don’t issue them at the border. This means that I will have to make a bus trip to Nairobi for a couple of days and hopefully sort things out there.

For now the road was gradually climbing all day up to Kapenguria at almost 2000 meters. When the typical afternoon rain shower hit, it actually got rather cold, and I was putting on all my clothes. I was pretty happy to find a cheap hotel room with hot water to warm up a bit again before going to bed.

Tomorrow I’m planning to ride down the other side of the mountains towards Lake Turkana. By then the heat will surely be back!

  1. The one advantage of you being a little behind in your posts, is that we all get to read more for weeks after you finish your trip. 🙂
