Day 48: Sivriada Island

During my days in Turkey I have been in regular contact with radio friend Urcun TA0U. Urcun had been planning a trip to the Island of Sivriada with a group of radio amateurs from Istanbul. I was invited to join!

In the early morning hours we were leaving Istanbul on a yacht full of radio equipment, tents, and food.

Sivriada is a small uninhabited island located in the middle of the Bosphorus Strait.

A part from the radio activities there was also time for some some fishing. Fishing was easy – just lower down a wire with 10 fishıng hooks and a couple of seconds later pull the wire up again. We were eating a lot of fish!

The day ended with a camp fire before heading for the tents. Days like these make me wonder if they can get any better, or if it is all downhill from here. We will have to see, I guess.
