Day 114: Mangalore – Udupi

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jan - 29 - 2011

Distance: 50.74 km
Ridetime: 2:01:38
Average: 25.1 km/h
Total distance: 4784 km

First thing in the morning I went to the local bicycle shop. They once again confirmed that they would be able to replace the gear cable – something that made me very happy to hear. After all, a cyclist with a broken cycle is just not a good combination.

The journalist from yesterday also called to ask if he could send a photographer to take a few action shoots of me leaving the city. I think they came out great.

After saying goodbye and thanks to Pai for some great days, I was back on the road. The plan was now to cycle north again the same way I had been arriving three days ago.

After 50 fast kilometers, the gears now working great, I once again met Nagi in Udupi. As I was staying for the night this time, there would be a chance to experience the religous festival taking place every January. And what a sight it was!

After the amazing festival scenes, Nagi and his family invited me for dinner in their home. This time fish was on the menu. The Karnataka mackerel fish is really tasty!

Back in the hotel I quickly crashed into bed. What a day!
