Day 137: Vijayawada – Eluru

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Feb - 22 - 2011

Distance: 52.06 km
Ridetime: 01:54:02
Average: 27.4 km/h
Total distance: 5987 km

For breakfast I was once again joined by Ramesh and a couple of the other guys from yesterdays meeting. I had planned to start cycling after breakfast but Ramesh told he had arranged an event at a local school. Not something I was prepared for but on the other hand I’m starting to expect these kind of surprises by now.

At the school we were met by the director and several of the teachers. After a quick cup of tea it was time to meet the students. I don’t know the number of people that were in the room but it felt like many. As we entered everybody went quite and started looking at me. Talk about being the center of attention.

I told the story about the expedition and answered some questions. As we left the room a couple of the students even came and asked for an autograph. I didn’t think it was possible, but it seems like my fame factor has reached even higher levels. After a group photo in front of school and shaking hands with everybody I cycled off into the relative privacy of the road. An unusual beginning of the day!
