Day 188: Khao Lak – Krabi

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Apr - 15 - 2011

Distance: 134.03 km
Ridetime: 06:10:06
Average: 21.7 km/h
Total distance: 8948 km

I had originally planned to stay for a day or two in Phuket, but when I saw a sign saying 100 km to Krabi I decided to head there instead. After 30 km of cycling another sign still claimed 100 km to Krabi. The first one had obviously been wrong. With the decision already made there was just to carry on.

My guide book promotes Krabi as the most beautiful province of Thailand. And boy, what is it some beautiful cycling among the lime stone cliffs.

And some hard climbing as well. People had told me the road from Bangkok to Malaysia would be flat. I felt like taking a photo to show that I don’t agree completely.

In Krabi I checked into a very modern hostel. I quickly agreed with some other guests that it was the coolest hostel we had visited on both of our trips. With my new friends having travelled through the States, New Zealand and Australia and me having covered Europe, the Middle East and India that actually tells quite a bit.
