I decided to go for the buffet style breakfast in the morning. When the bill came it was 50000 rupiah or almost 5 times what I would normally pay for breakfast. It turned out that the buffet was not “all you can eat”, but the price was based on what you took. The friendly staff explained I had eaten two chickens, one beef, soup, rice and vegetables. Yes, I was hungry!
after 60 km I saw a hotel and decided to call it a day. Power cuts are frequent out here in the jungle of Sumatra. Furthermore, the intensity of the light and the speed of the fan over my bed was constantly altering between 50% and 100%. I didn’t have the nerves to recharge any of my electronic devices.
Hahahaha! And thanks for the video!
Hahaha..
It happened to me quite often when I got hungry on the road. I ride my motorcycle to see the country though.
Padang / Sumatra restaurants have their own system. Hahahaha.
Hi, when I did this ride I ended up sleeping in the jungle at night. It sucked. Would you happen to have the GPS cords. for the place you stayed here? Great journal by the way.
Yes Bob, not too easy to find places to sleep out there in rurual Sumatra. Maybe you can use the map above to find the exact location of the hotel. If you zoom in you should be able to see it. Thanks and happy cycling!
Thomas,
Thanks, I was looking at you journal on a tablet and the garmen tab was just blank, but on a PC I can see it now and that’s just so awesome. I did this ride in the other direction and the endless hills just killed me and looking at the garmin I now know why. Now I’ll go back and reread everything. Thanks again, this is very helpful.
Bob
