I love wild camping and I think I’m getting good at finding nice spots to put up the tent. A favourite location is the beach. Even though I’m on the coastal road up to Sydney the road will sometimes take inland turns. This morning the view from my wild camp spot included forest, fields, and a group of sheep.

This guy had kept me company in the night – luckily on the outside of the tent.

It was going to be a hot day, and I had seen on the news that there was some bush fire activity in the area. I did however also conclude that the landscape I was cycling through was a little too green and lush to provide a real danger.

In the middle of the day I passed a bridge and saw this ladder leading down to a creek. A quick swim to cool down was just what I needed at that point.

When I arrived at Cann River I went straight to the first supermarket and bought an ice cream and cold coke. I then found a place to pitch my tent close to the river, taking into account the bush fire danger. Even though I like heat, today’s 39 degrees was a little too hot even for me. I think tomorrow will be a few degrees colder.
