Day 1561, Santander de Quilichao – Cali: Gimme a Break!

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jan - 22 - 2015

Distance: 82.83 km
Ride time: 4:03:24
Average: 20.39 km/h
Max speed: 39.29 km/h
Total: 33011 km

I had only been cycling a couple of hours when magic happened – I was suddenly riding on a flat road! That hasn’t happened for over a thousand kilometers. Well, I still love mountains and the views over the last weeks have been breathtaking, but for now I’m badly in need of a break.

As I descended all the way down to around 1000 m of altitude the temperature kept rising. I was taking off layer after layer of clothes. Then another nice little milestone to celebrate.

Over the last weeks Cali has been on my mind a lot. At some point during the slow ascends up there in the mountains I was not sure I would be able to make it before Christmas. Now I was riding into the city with a single day to spare. I had been in contact with Inge from Denmark who lives in Cali. Looks like there will be a nice Christmas party over at her house tomorrow. The hard riding was probably worth it then 🙂

Hola Cali, un gusto conocerte!
