Day 1694, Isla Ometepe: No Stress…

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jun - 09 - 2015

It really is a very low key place over here on Ometepe island – I don’t think stress is a big problem for the people living here. I’m staying at the nice Landing Hostel, once again taking advantage of the fact that it is low season – 8$ for a dorm room where I am the only guest.

It had been a long ride from San Jose down in Costa Rica, so I spent most of the day relaxing and updating the blog at the hostel terrace overlooking the lake.

Above the small town rises the impressive Conception volcano. I was thinking about climbing it until I heard that you can’t make it all the way to the crater – the volcano is active!

The sunset colors at the small harbour were truly breathtaking. I’m happy I took the time to make it over here.

During the day I got a message from Sabrina from the US I first met in Salta last year. It turns out Sabrina is now spending a year on Ometepe Island – what a surprise.

  2. Yes Stephen… I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go there in the first place, but now I’m very glad that I did!
