Day 1706, San Salvador – Ahuachapan: Pupusas

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jun - 23 - 2015

Distance: 91.7 km
Ride time: 4:47:50
Average: 19.1 km/h
Max speed: 51.5 km/h
Total: 36380 km

Juan Carlos had considered joining me for the day’s cycling from San Salvador to Ahuachapan, but in the end he had a job interview so couldn’t make it. We did however meet up for breakfast, enjoying some of the traditional pupusas that is a favourite here in El Salvador. They are made of corn flour and comes in all kind of flavours.

Today was pretty much a standard day on the bike. 90 something kilometers with a climb in the middle, otherwise rather flat. My friends Jose and Juan Carlos had already looked for a hotel and explained the route, so no big surprises during the day. I only had to put my head down, push the pedals around, and arrive at my destination before sunset.

Ahuachapan is a nice little village less than 20 kilometers from the border with Guatemala. Tomorrow will be another new country. There really is a lot of them around these parts!

One Response so far.

  1. Certainly a BIG climb in the middle! That’s quite an altitude gain.
