Day 1753: Yemassee – Charleston: A Warm Shower

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Aug - 21 - 2015

Distance: 106.7 km
Ride time: 4:44:27
Average: 22.5 km/h
Max speed: 36.0 km/h
Total: 39196 km

There is something I like about South Carolina. In the beginning of the day it was the quite roads in the middle of nowhere. I’m far away from commercialisation out here. Instead I’m passing small towns with old rail road stations.

Then I was suddenly in the outskirts of Charleston, one of the few bigger cities in this Southern state. Luckily my Warmshowers host had described a dedicated bike path that would take me almost all the way to his apartment.

Cycling through the US continues to be a very social experience. Absolutely amazing hospitality here – tonight with the lovely couple Devon and Joe who will soon be leaving for their own 9 month ride around the US. Check out their blog on usbiketrip.blogspot.com!

Great home made food and talk about cycling adventures out there on the roads of the US. Thanks for a great evening and best of luck on your ride guys!
