Day 1767, Richmond – Nokesville: In The Spotlight

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Sep - 25 - 2015

Distance: 98.2 km
Ride time: 4:41:17
Average: 21.0 km/h
Max speed: 52.9 km/h
Total: 40110 km

I’m really not very comfortable in front of the camera, but if someone asks me for an interview I will usually say yes – after all this trip is all about moving personal boundaries. And so I began my morning being interviewed by the Richmond Times in front of my motel. The journalist and the photographer were all nice, and I believe that things turned out OK: http://www.richmond.com/news/local/city-of-richmond/article_1ff02cfd-cb65-5eff-879c-66857fffa4e5.html

After the interview I was back on the road heading towards Nokesville just outside Washington D.C. Traffic is really building up in this part of the States, and I can only expect it to get a lot worse in the coming days.

I met Dan from Pennsylvania on his own bike ride down towards Florida.

Yesterday I had passed the 40000 km mark and today another big milestone was in the making. 40075 km or 24901 miles is a special number because that is exactly the length of the equator. I have now officially cycled the globe 🙂

In Nokesville I was going to meet Bill W4RM and his brother Jack W4NF who had invited me to stay in their very nice house for the night.

The other night I had been sleeping in the woods. Now I was jumping in the swimming pool and drinking very good red wine, and eating big steaks with new friends. You never know what tomorrow will bring…

Thanks for such a nice welcome Bill and Jack!

One Response so far.

  1. What a day! I don’t know how I’d feel about being interviewed. Or how I’d look. haha. Your friends have a pretty good set up there!
