Day 1806, Corner Brook – Howley: Moose Country

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Dec - 26 - 2015

Ride time: 4:32:46
Average: 22.3 km/h
Max speed: 46.8 km/h
Total: 43101 km

Visiting L’Anse aux Meadows had almost been a religious experience. Today it was back to everyday life. After returning my rental car I was back on two wheels. Luckily the crazy rain from yesterday had stopped, and I was enjoying myself as I cycled along Deer Lake. This place very much reminds me of Switzerland.

I remember passing ski slopes the day I left Ushuaia in Patagonia a year and a half ago. Now I’m once again so far north that skiing is a big deal again.

Then it was time to celebrate another milestone – the last one of this kind in the Americas!

After enjoying a beautiful colorful sunset I was looking for a place to camp. There is no people out here on this remote part of Newfoundland so privacy (except from the moose?) is not hard to find – locating a flat spot with no trees proved a little harder.

Good night from the forests of Newfoundland.

One Response so far.

  1. I guess it’s only fitting that you were passing ski slopes at the end of the Americas, like at the beginning. 🙂
