Day 124: Gadag – Hampi

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Feb - 13 - 2011

Distance: 102.68 km
Ridetime: 05:31:56
Average: 18.6 km/h
Total distance: 5280 km

Another day with strong headwinds. On the other hand, the road was so bad that it wouldn’t have been possible to go much faster even with a tailwind. The wind also provides a continuous ventilation. With temperatures now up around 35°C it didn’t even feel too hot.

Arriving into Hampi was a huge contrast to the villages I have been passing though lately. Hampi is tourist town in it’s best and it’s worst. From the moment I entered the city I was surrounded by people trying to pull me to their hotels. Maybe I was just tired after a long cycling day, but it was all quite overwhelming. What makes up for it is obviously the fantastic surroundings.

I predict tomorrow will be a good photo day.
