Day 182: Prachuap Khiri Khan – Bang Saphan

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Apr - 13 - 2011

Distance: 92.22 km
Ridetime: 03:45:05
Average: 24.6 km/h
Total distance: 8380 km

While having my morning coffee at the ever-present 7-eleven, I saw this procession passing by. I like how the guy is holding an umbrella to give shade to (the photo of) the Princess of Thailand. The royals are treated with respect here!

I’m now cycling on the narrow stretch of land between the Indian Ocean and the Golf of Thailand which is shared between Myanmar and Thailand. I’m lucky to be near a border as my visa for Thailand expires in just a few days.

In Bang Saphan my guidebook suggested there would be very simple huts for hire at the beach for 300 bhat. Just for fun I asked for the price at a nice looking hotel. Business must have been slow since I was offered a nice room with air condition and a big flat screen TV for 350 bhat. The softest bed I have slept in for quite a while.
