Day 184: Chumphon – Ranong

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Apr - 13 - 2011

Distance: 120.29 km
Ridetime: 05:08:20
Average: 23.4 km/h
Total distance: 8612 km

I have been cycling too much on the highways lately. They are great for getting from A to B, but the best cycling is without doubt to be found on the smaller roads. It was with a big smile on my face that I turned off the main highway and into a smaller mountain road that would lead me up towards the border with Burma.

After some beautiful sunshine cycling in the lush green hills I got closer to Ranong – a city that is known to have one of the highest number of rain days in Thailand. The clouds started to gather and I could hear thunder in the distance.

A bit further up the road I passed a beautiful waterfall. As it had been a hot day I wasn’t slow to join some teenagers going for a swim.

Beautiful lush and green hillside landscapes, sun, a swim under a waterfall, and several delicious thai plates to eat. What more could you ask for in a single cycle day? In my mind this is pretty much as good as it gets.
