After a couple of days of good fun in Guayaquil, Matthias caught a bus to Peru. I was then meeting up with Alberto, a local radio aficionado, who I had been in contact with over email. At first we went for a drive around the city to check out the view points.
Alberto told me about his finca, a house in the country side, where I was invited to stay for as long as I wanted! The next day we were driving 30 km north along the Guayaquil river to Finca Guadalupe, also known as HD2A in radio circles.
Alberto had a busy schedule in town, so the caretaker Diego and myself were the only people in the big house – very different from the 5$ tiny hotel rooms I usually end up staying in.
During my stay I was taking part in the CQWW CW contest from Albertos station. If you are a radio amateur, you can read the full story here.
The days went by fast, and before I knew it I had been staying a week at the finca. It was time to return to civilization in Guayaquil once again.
Thanks to Alberto for the amazing welcome to Ecuador!
Great job in the contest. Was nice to work you on several bands.
