Day 147: Vizag – Srikakulam

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Mar - 10 - 2011

Distance: 99.31 km
Ridetime: 04:23:33
Average: 22.6 km/h
Total distance: 6379 km

Flat terrain and a nice highway makes for some good riding. Once again a reminder that in India you will find both the best possible and worst imaginable cycle roads. You never know what the day may bring.

Close to Srikakulam a guy asked me to follow him to his village. A few questions revealed that the village was around 10 km from the highway. A bit too far since I already had an appointment for the evening in Srikakulam. I’m sure it would have been an interesting visit.

A bit later I met Sarat, a friend of a friend that I had been put in contact with through the guys in Vizag. Sarat works at the tax collectors office. Through his job he had arranged a room for me in a lodge belonging to the tax collectors association. Once again I wasn’t allowed to pay anything for the room – not even taxes.
