This is the view that awaited me as I looked out the window in the morning. Quite a contrast to the otherwise perfect weather I have enjoyed the last 3 weeks.
I didn’t really expect such heavy rain in the desert, and based on the amount of water that made it into the hotel from holes in the roof it also isn’t normal.
Had a couple of strong coffees in the morning and decided to wait and see how things would turn out. The noon weather report showed rain for the next 5 days straight! Shortly after a friendly guy I met at the restaurant offered a ride the 70 km into Damascus which I wasn’t slow to accept.
