New Year celebrations seem to be on a somewhat lower scale in Egypt compared to Denmark; I went to a computer store to get my power supply for my netbook fixed. The shop keeper told me to come back tomorrow at 10. Tomorrow being the 1st of January didn’t seem to matter.
When evening came I joined a few other travellers in my hotel for a Stella beer or two. At midnight we went for a walk. The atmosphere was lively with many people in the streets. But then again, the atmosphere is always lively in Cairo.
