Day 205: Taiping – Pangkor

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on May - 09 - 2011

Distance: 107.07 km
Ridetime: 05:00:05
Average: 21.4 km/h
Total distance: 9793 km

At 8 in the morning I met with Sham and Jamil from yesterday night. They hard bought 3 more friends who were all going to join me for the first 50 km of cycling! First we had breakfast and afterwards we cycled around the beautiful lake in Taiping.

Marius, my Dutch cycling friend, had been staying in another hotel for the night. We had agreed to meet half way between Taiping and Pangkor Island for lunch. I think he was pretty surprised when I showed up with a group of 5 cyclists all wearing the same team T-shirt.

After lunch I continued with Marius towards Pangkor Island while Sham, Jamil and the rest of the guys headed back to Taiping. Thanks for the company guys! It was great riding with you.

After 100 km this is a sign that will make you sweat.

Luckily the climb was very short.

At the hotel on Pangkor Island we met yet another cyclist. David from Barcelona is also on a multi-year trip around the world. It is absolutely amazing how many cyclists you meet in Malaysia!
