Day 225: Jambi – Bayung Lencir

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jun - 04 - 2011

Distance: 101.81 km
Ridetime: 04:26:47
Average: 22.9 km/h
Total distance: 10748 km

I woke up in the morning to found out I was locked in my hotel room without my key! Normally this would be a situation that would make one nervous. Luckily the problem was just that I had forgot the key on the outside of the door yesterday night, and with the key in the lock, the door couldn’t be opened from the inside.

Back on the road it was good cycling all day. This part of Sumatra is very rural and without any tourists at all. It means few hotels. After 100 km a guy explained that the next hotel was 60 km further ahead. I started to look for a place to camp when I found a small restaurant that also rented out simple rooms. I wouldn’t mind to spend a night in the tent, but the room just seemed easier. As I checked in, a tropical downpour began. Probably a wise choice to have a real roof over the head for the night.
