Day 227: Sungai Lillin – Palembang

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jun - 05 - 2011

Distance: 111.11 km
Ridetime: 04:51:30
Average: 22.9 km/h
Total distance: 10905 km

I cycled into Palembang just as the afternoon rain shower started. Usually it lasts for half an hour. A good opportunity to sit down, have a tea, look in the guide book, and perhaps chat with the fellow scooter drivers also waiting for the weather to clear.

When I arrive in a new big city I always feel lost at first – as if I don’t really belong. It usually only lasts a few hours until I know my way around. I already like Palembang.

Haha, I think what is going on here is some beautiful girls asking for photos after I stopped for a drink. Sometimes I feel like a rock star 🙂

  4. Indonesians then and today are different.
Today, Indonesians love to meet people from overseas, especially ‘bule’, pronounced ‘bull’- ‘leh’.
It means ‘white people’. So, don’t be offended or upset when children or anyone called you ‘bule’.
Say to them that you are a ‘bule’ and they will be entertained and getting much friendlier.
