Day 1260, Molina – Chimbarongo: Shell Shelter

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Mar - 05 - 2014

Distance: 56.74 km
Ride time: 2:36:24
Average: 21.82 km/h
Total: 24463 km

I know I have been talking a lot about being cold and wet down in Patagonia, but now I almost wish the temperature would come down a few degrees again. The mornings are still fresh, but after 2 pm things really warm up. The maximum temperature is probably around 30 degrees. I couple of months ago when I worked in Australia, 30 would be a cold day. Now I seem to have adjusted to Patagonian temperatures. The human body is never satisfied.

Is is quite expensive for cars to drive on Route 5. Every 50 km there is a pay booth where the cars pay around 6$. Luckily I didn’t have to pay anything yet 🙂

I’m still making plenty of stops at restaurants to update the blog (I’m not loosing any weight these days). The menu is usually the same: Fried chicken with rice, steak, or this stewed meat with potatos and rice that I prefer. Interestingly the food here is not much different from traditional food back home.

For the night I arrived at a Shell station as the sun was setting. As usual putting up the tent was not a problem, and this place even had free showers, wifi, and cheap coffee. The view might not be as nice as back in Patagonia, but convenient it is!
