Day 1696, Ometepe – Rivas: More of This, Please

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Jun - 10 - 2015

Distance: 32.7 km
Ride time: 1:32:33
Average: 21.2 km/h
Max speed: 54.7 km/h
Total: 35615 km

It was interesting to hear Sabrina talking about her job at an organic farm on Ometepe over lunch. They are doing a lot of interesting things down here. After lunch we went for a swim in Lake Nicaragua – it’s waters apparently supposed to be healthy with all the minerals from the volcanoes.

Thanks for showing me around your island Sabrina – see you on the East Coast!

Now, I thought I was running late for my ferry back to the mainland, but I managed to catch the last boat going back to Rivas with only minutes to spare. Not that being stuck on Ometepe for another night would be such a bad thing, but it was once again time to move on…

What a sunset view from that ferry.

I day like today with nice people and beautiful nature is what cycle touring is all about. More of this please!

  1. I think I could happily spend some time there, too! Spending another night, as consolation for missing a ferry, can’t be a bad thing!

  2. Travel Nerd says:

Have you seen anything of the new Channel the Chinese intend to build?

  3. No, I didn’t see anything about a channel in Nicaragua… only down in Panama.
