Day 1765, Youngsville – Alberta: Virginia Is For Lovers

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on Sep - 22 - 2015

Distance: 138.3 km
Ride time: 6:07:50
Average: 22.6 km/h
Max speed: 49.7 km/h
Total: 39891 km

After saying goodbye to Nate and Allison the first goal of today was to get a haircut – much needed since my last haircut and shave was in El Salvador!

Armed with a new look the next goal of the day was to make it to Virginia. I was pretty excited about this as Virginia would be the first new state on the trip that I had not visited before.

Virginia Is For Lovers – the State did indeed seem very romantic as I rode through small towns and passed beautiful rivers. The idyllic ride lasted until a car passed me with what seemed like 200 km/h. A minute after the first police car followed, then the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th… then a helicopter. Quite the car chase! It seems like Virginia is not only for lovers.

Well, the idyll returned which was good since I was looking for a place to wild camp. I found a nice spot in a little forest next to the road.

One Response so far.

  1. A speeding car, followed by 5 police cars. Never a dull moment. 🙂
