Day 203: Georgetown

Posted by Thomas Andersen Posted on May - 01 - 2011

Distance: 58.38 km
Ridetime: 03:35:30
Average: 16.3 km/h
Total distance: 9596 km

During yesterday’s Indian dinner together with Laura and Eric we decided to go cycling around the island. As Laura and Eric needed to rent bicycles first, the departure was moved from 7 to 9 a.m. Something I can’t say I was unhappy about on my rest day.

The Dutch guy Marius who I cycled with yesterday had also done the tour and said there would be no real mountains. After two very serious climbs peaking at 20% we started to wonder what Marius would qualify as “real climbing”. Later we discovered that we had taken a wrong turn and cycled right across the island and not really around it as we had intended. That explains the climbs.

I did take quite a few pictures during the day but when poor Eric wanted to take a shot in black and white he went to a menu called “format” and pressed OK… you can imagine the rest.

After 58 hilly kilometers we were hungry when we returned to Love Lane. Normally we would have eaten local food, but today we thought we deserved a big pizza. It was tasty!
